Independent Agents Take to Capitol Hill During PIA’s Annual Advocacy Day

Independent insurance agents from around the nation converged on Washington, D.C. on September 17 for PIA’s annual Advocacy Day.

Agents met with Senators, Representatives, and congressional staff to discuss PIA’s key legislative issues. Among PIA’s top issues were the need for the long-term reauthorization and reform of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) prior to its scheduled expiration on Sept. 30, 2025, the NFIP’s direct-to-consumer program, and PIA-backed legislation to reform or repeal the Federal Insurance Office (FIO)

Georgia Rep. Austin Scott is Named PIA’s 2024 Legislator of the Year

PIA’s 2025 Advocacy Day also included the presentation of the 2025 PIA Legislator of the Year Award to Rep. Austin Scott (R-GA). The Congressman graciously accepted the award in a presentation with members from PIA Southern Alliance and PIA National Leadership

PIA chose to honor Rep. Scott in recognition of his steadfast leadership in reinstating the annual administrative & operating inflation adjustment for crop insurance agents. PIA appreciates Rep. Scott for being a champion for independent agents, and we appreciate his work delivering this victory through budget reconciliation.
