
Rep. French Hill (R-AR) has been tapped by his Republican colleagues to serve as the next chair of the House Financial Services Committee. Rep. Hill will replace retiring Rep. Patrick McHenry (R-NC). The House Financial Services Committee is the committee of jurisdiction for several of PIA’s Policy Priorities, including the reform or repeal of the Federal Insurance Office (FIO), the reauthorization of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), and the cannabis safe harbor bill.
Rep. Hill has been representing the 2nd Congressional District of Arkansas in the United States House of Representatives since 2014. Before he was elected to Congress, Rep. Hill worked on Capitol Hill as a congressional aide, including on the staff of the Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee before serving during the President George H.W. Bush administration in positions including Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for Corporate Finance and Executive Secretary to the Presidents Economic Policy Council. Rep. Hill also worked as a commercial banker and investment manager for two decades.
Rep. Hill graduated magna cum laude with a degree in economics from Vanderbilt University.
