Member Spotlight: Rep. French Hill (R-AR)

French Hill was elected to the United States House of Representatives in 2014 to represent the 2nd Congressional District of Arkansas. Before he was elected to Congress, Rep. Hill worked as a commercial banker and investment manager for two decades. He also served during the administration of President George H.W. Bush in positions including Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for Corporate Finance and as the Executive Secretary to the Presidents Economic Policy Council. Prior to that he worked on Capitol Hill as a congressional aide, including on the staff of the Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee.

Rep. Hill graduated magna cum laude with a degree in economics from Vanderbilt University. 

Why He’s Important to Agents

Rep. Hill serves on the House Financial Services Committee and is the Ranking Member, or top Republican, on its Subcommittee on Housing, Community Development and Insurance. The subcommittee has jurisdiction over many PIA priorities, including the reauthorization of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), the creation of a cannabis safe harbor for independent insurance agents, and the repeal of the Federal Insurance Office (FIO).
