Senate Passes One-Day CR

The U.S. Senate has passed a one-day continuing resolution (CR) to fund the federal government until midnight, Monday, December 21 by voice vote. The U.S. House passed the CR earlier in the evening.

Congressional leaders tonight announced a deal to combine a $900 billion COVID relief package with a $1.4 trillion federal government appropriations omnibus bill to fund the government until September 30, 2021. To allow additional time for final drafting and review of the large legislative package, Congressional leaders moved on a one-day extension of the current federal government funding authority.

The president signed the CR into law shortly before midnight.
