The U.S. House voted 359-57 tonight to pass the continuing resolution (CR) legislation to fund the federal government to December 11th. As reported earlier today, the bill includes an extension of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) until next year, to September 30th, 2021. The program is set to expire next week on September 30th.
The vote on the CR was supposed to take place earlier in the day but was delayed due to disagreements between Democrats and Republicans on funding issues unrelated to flood insurance, which could have put the CR in jeopardy in the Senate. The revised legislation was able to pass the House in a bipartisan manner after Democrats and Republicans negotiated an agreement.
PIA National is pleased that the CR includes a year long extension of the NFIP and we’re urging the Senate to pass the bill as soon as possible.
