Senate Passes Flood Insurance Program Extension to November

Today the U.S. Senate passed H.R. 4378, a short-term continuing resolution (CR) to fund the federal government until November 21 by a vote of 82-15. An extension of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), set to expire September 30, was included in the bill. The House of Representatives already passed the bill earlier in September. The new expiration date for the NFIP is November 21. See PIA National’s press release here.

With the NFIP extended into November, PIA National is again urging Congress to pass a long-term reauthorization of the program. PIA National supports bipartisan legislation that passed out of the House Financial Services Committee in June and would provide a 5 year reauthorization of the program with needed reforms.
