Sean Duffy was elected to the United States House of Representatives in 2010 to represent Wisconsin’s 7th Congressional District. Rep. Duffy’s district spans Northwestern and much of central Wisconsin and covers 20 counties.
Rep. Duffy obtained his BA from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota and his JD from the William Mitchell College of Law. Prior to serving in Congress, he practiced law in his hometown of Hayward, Wisconsin and then became the District Attorney of Ashland County.
Why He’s Important to Agents
Rep. Duffy serves on the House Financial Services Committee, which has jurisdiction over the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), the Federal Insurance Office (FIO), and the Terrorism Risk Insurance Program (TRIP), all of which are top priorities for PIA National. On the committee, Rep. Duffy serves on the Subcommittee on Investor Protection, Entrepreneurship, and Capital Markets and is the Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Housing, Community Development and Insurance.
As Ranking Member of the House Financial Services subcommittee with jurisdiction over insurance issues, Rep. Duffy has helped lead discussions to reform and reauthorize the NFIP. He also has been an advocate of FIO reform.
PIA National will continue to work with Rep. Duffy and the rest of the House Financial Services Committee to obtain a long-term reauthorization of the NFIP and to repeal the FIO.
