In the latest entry in our Commissioner Spotlight series, we are focusing on the head of the Missouri Department of Commerce & Insurance (MDCI) and current president of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC), Director Chlora Lindley-Myers.
Dir. Lindley-Myers began her career drafting insurance legislation in the Connecticut General Assembly before spending a decade at Aetna Life working in underwriting and claims administration. Dir. Lindley-Myers also served as the Chief of the Missouri Department of Insurance’s Property and Casualty Section, the Chief Compliance Officer of Examinations for the Kentucky Department of Insurance, and the Deputy Commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Commerce & Insurance (TCDI) before being appointed as Director of the MDCI by former Missouri Governor Eric Greitens in 2017.
Why Director Lindley-Myers is Important to Agents:
Dir. Lindley-Myers has been an integral member of NAIC leadership for decades. In addition to serving as the NAIC’s current president, she has served in a number of key leadership roles, including as chair of the Reinsurance Task Force and as co-chair of the Special (EX) Committee on Race and Insurance, a position she continues to hold. In 2015, while serving as the Deputy Commissioner of the TDCI, Dir. Lindley-Myers received the prestigious Robert Dineen Award for Outstanding Service and Contribution to the State Regulation of Insurance, which is presented annually by the NAIC and recognizes state insurance regulators who make outstanding contributions in their regulatory roles.
Dir. Lindley-Myers currently serves on the NAIC’s Executive (EX) Committee; the Climate and Resiliency (EX) Task Force; the Government Relationship (EX) Leadership Council (GRLC); and the Special (EX) Committee on Race and Insurance, which she co-chairs.
PIA National has long valued its close relationship with the NAIC and its leaders, and we look forward to continuing our collaborations with Dir. Lindley-Myers both at the NAIC and in the state of Missouri in the years to come.
