Lawler also served as executive director of the New York State Republican Party and was elected to the New York State Assembly in 2020. Rep. Why He’s Important to Agents:
Rep. Lawler serves on the House Financial Services Committee, which has jurisdiction over key PIA policy priority issues, including the reauthorization of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), the creation of Cannabis Safe Harbor for independent agents, and the Federal Insurance Office (FIO). Rep. Lawler has been supportive of PIA’ positions on many issues, cosponsoring bills to reform the FIO and make permanent the up to 20% tax deduction for qualified passthrough entities.
PIA looks forward to continuing to work with Rep. Lawler to address issues facing independent agents.
