Member Spotlight: Senator Tina Smith (D-MN)

Senator Tina Smith (D-Minnesota) began her career in public service when she was elected the 48th Lieutenant Governor of Minnesota in 2014. After being appointed to the U.S. Senate in 2017, she ran and secured her first 6-year term in 2020. Senator Smith attended Stanford University and afterward attended the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College.

Sen. Smith currently serves in the 118th Congress on the Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry, which has jurisdiction over crop insurance and many issues within the Farm Bill In addition, Sen. Smith currently serves on committees important to PIA, including the Committees on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) and Small Business and Entrepreneurship.
